Our Trip to the Middle East, Part Three

We took a two day post-conference tour to visit museums and other sites in Northern Israel. We travelled by bus and had a wonderful tour guide.

Our route- the pink line was Day One, the turquoise line was Day Two.

Nazareth, where we visited the Church of the Annunciation.

A very entertaining interpreter at the Pioneer Settlement Museum at Kibbutz Yifat. We learned about the early days of the Kibbutz movement and the first migrations (alyiahs).

This is the Children's House at Kibbutz Yifat. In the early days of the kibbutz, children lived together away from their parents for most of the day and night.

We stopped at the Tefen Industrial Museum, which included the Museum of German-speaking Jews.

Israelis liken themselves to the cactus fruit, and call themselves Sabras. They are prickly on the outside, but sweet and pleasant on the inside.

We spent a night at the Kfar Giladi Kibbutz Resort. This view from the resort is of a town just over the border in Lebanon.

Referred to as the "Jesus Boat", this 2,000 year-old wooden boat was recovered from the mud of the shores of Lake Kinneret (Sea of Galilee).

Nebi Shueib, the sacred shrine of the Druze people. It houses the tomb of Jethro, father-in-law of Moses. Renee is holding an olive branch, given by a Druze woman outside the shrine.
